12th International Conference on the Fundamentals of Adsorption (FOA)

May 29 -June 3, 2016
Graf-Zeppelin-Haus, Friedrichshafen, Germany

The FOA series of conferences started in 1983 and a conference in the series has been held since every three years. The conference is organized under the auspices of the International Adsorption Society (IAS) and takes place in an alternating manner in the US, the Asian/Pacific area and Europe. The conference is attended by researchers in adsorption and related fields from throughout the world. Most of the attendees are chemical engineers but there are always also many chemists, physicists and members of other disciplines present. Moreover the level of industrial participation is high. This conference is an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas and information between scientists and industrial practitioners.

Quantachrome will also exhibit at this conference. Quantachrome supports this conference in different levels including a generous grant for supporting the travel and participation of US Students and Postdocs.

Dr. Matthias Thommes (Quantachrome’s Director of Applied Science), in an invited lecturer at this event, he will present a 60 min tutorial lecture on Physical Adsorption Characterization on Friday, June 3rd. Dr. Thommes will also give an oral presentation on June 2nd, (co-authored by Katie Cychosz, Quantachrome Analytical Training and Research manager) on very recent research focusing on new insights in the understanding the adsorption of phase behavior of fluids in hierarchically structured materials and corresponding advances in characterization. Furthermore Dr. Thommes will be the chairman of the adsorbent characterization session on June 1st. In addition, Dr. Thommes and co-workers will co-author three additional poster presentations reflecting high level collaborations between Quantachrome and well-known international research institutions, including NIST, Gaithersburgh, USA, University of Leipzig (Germany), Rutgers University (USA). View program.
