Dr .Matthias Thommes was an invited speaker for this international workshop, and gave a lecture about the textural characterization of nanoporous materials with focus on metal organic framework (MOFs) and related materials. DEFNET (DEFect NETwork materials science and engineering) is the first integrated European Training Network (ETN) at the intersection of chemistry, physics and engineering which deals with the structural and functional complexity of molecular network materials such as metal organic frameworks (MOFs).

Dr. Matthias Thommes, Quantachrome’s Director of Applied Science, has been appointed to be the Chair for AIChE’s Area 2e Adsorption and Ion Exchange, Separation Division. He will lead the Adsorption and Ion Exchange Area of the American Institute for Chemical Engineering (AIChE) for the next 2 years, until November 2017.
